Mathilde Lund Hutters

Craftswoman and artist

Born in Glostrup, Denmark, and now 31 years old, Mathilde has worked with ceramics since 2014. 10 years after - in 2024, she completed her education from The Royal Danish Academy in Crafts in Glass and Ceramics on Bornholm, an experience that deepened her approach to material and process. After returning to Copenhagen, she joined a shared studio in Frederiksberg, where she has her daily practice exploring the possibilities of her craft.

My practice unfolds at the intersection of glass and ceramic art, exploring the relationship between the two. Clay provides permanence and solidity, while glass embodies transformation and fluidity.

I work with sustainable and recycled materials, creating pieces that invite reflection and dialogue about our relationship with nature and resources. My aim is to explore how we shape and engage with the world around us.

I like to merge opposites, such as the fragile and the resilient, to create reflective spaces highlighting human endurance, vulnerability, and the continual transformation of matter.

I repurpose materials, often found as trash, blending the overlooked and the precious to challenge how we define value - and why some things are treasured while others are discarded.

My work reflects on how craft can mirror societal change by exploring transformation, construction, and deconstruction - both physical and symbolic.

Through my pieces, I offer glimpses into the cycles of endings and beginnings, creating windows that reveal what was, what is, and what the future may hold.
