Make Your Own Art Piece

Explore my techniques in a 4 hour workshop at my atelier in Frederiksberg, and transform your ideas into your own unique creation.

Join me in exploring clay and glass in a hands-on way. Together we’ll collect glass and other objects from the street and transform it into something new. I will provide a 30x30 cm slab of grey stoneware for you to carve in, and you can choose from a variety of stencils for inspiration - so you’re never left on your own. Step by step, you’ll carve, shape, and finish your very own relief, combining clay and melted recycled glass into a unique piece of art.

Step 1 - Introduction

The workshop begins at my atelier in Frederiksberg, where I will introduce you to my practice and the techniques I have developed, building a foundation for your own creative process.

Step 2 - City walk & collecting

You will begin your process with a guided walk through the city, discovering what the streets have to offer - glass shards, stones, and other objects you may find along the way. These will later become part of your artwork.

This first step is about exploring and collecting freely, without a fixed idea in mind. The concept and design will take shape later in the process.

Step 3 - Cleaning & Processing

Back in the workshop, we take time to go through the objects we collected. Together, we carefully clean them so they are ready to be integrated into your work. We reflect on their shapes, textures, and hidden stories, and begin to imagine how they can be transformed.

This is where the first ideas for your relief start to take form, guided by your own impressions and the materials themselves.

Step 4 - Shaping the Idea & Design

We begin by sketching and drawing out your ideas, exploring different possibilities before moving to the clay. You can look through a range of stencils for inspiration, helping you refine your concept and prepare for the actual carving.

Step 5 - Carving & Arranging

Now it’s time to move to the clay slab and start carving your design. Once your carvings are complete, you will place your recycled glass and any other collected objects exactly where you want them, ready for firing.

Step 6 - Finished!

Your relief is now complete! You will hand it over to me, and I will take care of the firing process. Approximately four weeks later, your finished piece will be ready for collection at the studio in Frederiksberg.
